I was really looking forward to the wedding of Laura and Gavin, having met that summer on their engagement shoot, it was plain to see they were a young couple clearly very much in love. We had an interesting conversation about how they met (working in a Costa Coffee) and their plans for the day, including the ‘special surprise guest’ for the evening.
Flash forward to mid November, I find Laura with her bridesmaids in the Montcalm Royal London House in Finsbury Square getting ready. Like the name of the Hotel it was a calm and relaxed atmosphere with her sister Rosie in charge of Hair and make up. Laura seemed the calmest of everyone happy chilling out on the bed eating a muffin. I stayed for a little bit as they got ready, before walking the short distance to St Lawrence Jewry, the Church next to Guildhall where they were to be wed.
I find Gavin outside with other guests huddling under umbrellas from the November rain and after a brief reenactment of ‘singing in the rain’ we head inside. The grand Sir Christopher Wren rebuilt Church was a great setting for the ceremony where we all waited for the bride to arrive.
After the ceremony we headed across the road to The Hawksmoor a steakhouse restaurant in the heart of the city. Speeches were said, dinner was eaten and dessert was savoured. The DJ played and people danced. Then Gavin came on the mike with his band and sang to his new wife followed by the ‘special surprise guest’ for the evening. The King walked in and the grannies went wild.
"Harp photographed our winter wedding in the City of London last year. He captured some amazing shots on what turned out to be a very grey, rainy day.
We first met Harp at our engagement shoot in the summer. He is a friendly, calm person and we immediately felt very relaxed around him. He helped direct us and gave pointers on how to get some good shots, which is very useful when you aren't used to being photographed.
On the wedding day Harp arrived to take photos of myself and the bridesmaids getting ready. He demonstrated his creativity as a photographer by capturing some amazing images, working with the lighting in the hotel.
Unfortunately it rained all day, so we had to take photos in the church. This wasn't a problem for Harp and he found a few different locations to take some lovely images. Group shots have a tendency to be tedious but Harp got through them all very quickly!
During the reception Harp captured natural shots of our guests laughing and dancing. He was extremely unobtrusive and we hardly noticed he was there.
I cannot recommend Harp enough! He has a great photographic style that really captured the ambiance of the day. Our families and guests also loved the photos and we have been inundated with requests for copies! We will cherish these images for years to come. It was a pleasure to work with him and he did a fantastic job of capturing our wedding!"
